Stuart Diamond graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1984. He became a member of the New York State bar in 1985, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
For more than seven years, Mr. Diamond was associated with Capriano Lichtman & Flach, an insurance defense firm. He handled a varied caseload from inception through trial, including construction, premises liability, motor vehicle, property damage, and defamation cases. He also supervised a staff of attorneys.
Mr. Diamond was employed for ten years at Thurm & Heller, initially as a senior associate and then as a partner of the firm. He participated in all phases of an insurance defense practice, including case management, discovery, trials, and appeals. He obtained a defense judgment in the trial of City of New York v. Paerdegat Boat & Racquet Club, a complex trespass and public nuisance action against an insured property owner, and then successfully defended the City’s appeals. He also prevailed in trials of personal injury actions against insured defendants, and handled a number of insurance litigation matters.
Since 2002, Mr. Diamond has litigated medical malpractice and civil rights, personal injury, property damage, commercial, and insurance coverage matters. He has litigated more than one hundred appeals, obtaining favorable decisions in a wide array of cases for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Mr. Diamond has lectured for the New York State Bar Association on recent developments in tort litigation. He serves as a volunteer arbitrator for the New York City Civil Court and is a former member of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction.
