Scott Bergin

Scott D. Bergin is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated lawyer and Super Lawyer since 2009. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1985 and obtained his JD from Albany Law School in 1985. He is admitted to practice before the New York State courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York and in Connecticut. Mr. Bergin has been trying personal cases since his New York admission in 1986, representing business, governmental entities, and individuals in motor vehicle, premises liability, labor law and other types of accidents.

He has tried well over 100 cases, most to verdict, in every county between New York City and Albany. In addition, Mr. Bergin has selectively represented plaintiffs in personal injury matters. He acts also as a Mediator and Arbitrator. He began his career in 1985 at the law firm of McCabe & Mack LLP, becoming a Partner in 1991 before joining Sokoloff Stern in 2024. He is a member of multiple professional organizations including the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, DRI-Defense Research Institute, DRI of N.E.N.Y., the Dutchess County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. 

Mr. Bergin has been involved in multiple civic organizations, including as a member, board member and past President of the Rhinebeck Chambers of Commerce, member and current Chairman of the Rhinebeck Zoning Board of Appeals, and current member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Astor Services for Children and Families. He has also been a member and officer of the Dutchess County SPCA, as well as being involved in multiple youth ice hockey organizations as a member and coach.
