Marissa Embola received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley in 2013 and obtained her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2017. Ms. Embola pursued appellate litigation in law school, participating as a student attorney in Michigan Law’s Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic and the Child Welfare Appellate Litigation Clinic. She was a quarterfinalist in the ABA First Amendment and Media Law Diversity Moot Court competition.
Prior to joining Sokoloff Stern, Ms. Embola served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lisa M. Smith, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York and worked as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division. At the Department of Justice, Ms. Embola represented the United States in large Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and in other civil litigation.
