James E. Kimmel


James E. Kimmel focuses his practice on serving the firm’s insurance defense clients, insureds and municipalities named in lawsuits. He is originally from Ohio, having graduated from the Ohio State University in 1999. Mr. Kimmel obtained his J.D. from New York Law School in 2002 and has been admitted to practice law in New York State since 2003. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York.


Mr. Kimmel is a New York State and federal litigator who represents individuals, corporations, municipalities, public authorities, and officials. His practice areas include tort defense, civil rights, employment discrimination, police and public entity liability, commercial litigation and plaintiff’s personal injury clients.


Prior to joining the firm’s Poughkeepsie office, Mr. Kimmel practiced in a similar capacity in New York City and its suburban counties for 17 years. He currently makes his home in the Hudson Valley where he volunteers his time as an assistant coach and mentor to his local High School mock trial team. 

He enjoys parenting his son, history, literature, art, and physical fitness.
