Chris Green obtained his BA from the University of Kentucky, which in 2018 named him the Department of English’s Alumnus of the Year. He obtained his JD from the University of Virginia, where he was a published member of the Virginia Law Review. Prior to joining Sokoloff Stern LLP in 2025, he was a partner for eighteen years in the international law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, and served for four years as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of the United States Polo Association (“USPA”), the world’s largest voluntary sports organization for the sport of polo.

 

At Boies Schiller, Chris specialized in complex civil litigation, representing clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts and before U.S. and International arbitrators and regulators, in matters that involved many areas of substantive law. He led a team of lawyers that successfully tried fraud claims to a jury verdict in the District of Nevada, obtaining a plaintiff’s judgment for $1 million in economic damages and $1.6 million in punitive damages; was a member of the team of lawyers that successfully represented Barclays Capital Inc. in a multibillion-dollar dispute over Barclays’ purchase of the Lehman Brothers investment banking division during the 2008 financial crisis; was a member of the team of lawyers that successfully defended American Express in the 14-week bench trial of a nationwide consumer class action seeking more than $500 million for alleged unfair business practices; and was a member of the team of lawyers that represented the whistleblower in a federal False Claims Act case that was tried to a jury verdict resulting in a judgment for $663 million.

 

As USPA COO, Chris was responsible for working with its elected volunteer leadership to establish long-range goals, objectives, policies and procedures. He oversaw day-to-day operations of the USPA, directing and working with the USPA staff of approximately 100 professionals to execute the strategic imperatives set by the USPA Board of Governors. As USPA General Counsel, he was responsible for providing legal advice and risk management to the USPA, selecting and coordinating the work of outside counsel, and ensuring that the USPA employed appropriate corporate governance. He managed the USPA’s trademark portfolio, disciplinary proceedings, equine medication violation proceedings, and Youth Protection Policy investigations. He drafted and/or approved all USPA contracts and media agreements, coordinated the activities of multiple USPA subsidiaries, and monitored all regulatory activity affecting the USPA and its 501c6 status.

 

Chris is Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated AVTM (Preeminent), was a New York Metro Area Super Lawyer® from 2013 to 2021 and has been admitted to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Fourth Circuit, Fifth Circuit and Ninth Circuit, and U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. In 2006, he was presented the Partner in Justice Award by the Board of Directors of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, for excellence in and commitment to the provision of pro bono legal services to indigent residents of New York’s Hudson Valley. In 2008, he was presented the Thurgood Marshall Award for Capital Representation by The Committee on Capital Punishment of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, in recognition of the contribution of time and legal expertise in the representation of inmates under a sentence of death.
